Client experience
Let me walk you through my hybrid photo/video process

Our meet-cute
This is the beginning of our relationship :)
After you inquire, I always start with a client questionnaire, my pricing guide, and a free consultation call (or coffee if we’re in the same place) so that I can really get to know you - your relationship, your dreams, your needs. I want to know allllllll the details about you both so that I can support you in your day and tell your story through photo and video the best I can. This also gives you a chance to get to know me! I’m happy to answer any questions you have and if I don’t have an answer, I’ll get one!

building our relationship
After you’ve said “I do” to working together, the real fun starts. All of my wedding and elopement packages include an engagement session. I love incorporating parts of your lifestyle and your favorite activities to do together in our engagement sessions so that your photos/video highlight reel really feel like you. This could be a picnic date, fishing your favorite stream, going for a hike, or meeting for coffee or a drink at your favorite place! This also gives us a chance to work together and get to know each other with a camera so that when I am documenting your wedding day you already know what to expect and can’t wait to work together again!
In addition to the engagement session, I also offer timeline assistance and vendor recommendations. I want to be there with you every step of the way to support and celebrate your love!

The big day
The much anticipated day that you have been planning and looking forward to. I’m looking foward to it too. On the day of your wedding, I have two primary goals:
1. be your own personal hype woman.
I want to celebrate your love with you. If you are eloping this includes my services as an ordained officiant (if you elect.) I am bilingual and can officiate your ceremony in English and Spanish.
2. be your story teller
I want to document all the details of the day and all of the important moments that you will want to look back on for the rest of your lives. It is an honor to give you that gift.

happiness delivery - our happily ever after
After the wedding I normally turn into what I affectionately call “an editing gremlin” :). I get so excited about your memories that I must share a few sneak peeks with you within the first 48 hours. The rest will arrive within the next 4-8 weeks. And remain with you for the rest of your lives.
Clients choose me as their hybrid photo-videographer instead of hiring a separate service when they want fewer moving parts, one cohesive style for their photo-video story, and a simple but elegant highlight reel as the cherry on top.
What does hybrid photo/video feel like?
For me, being in front of the lens for hybrid photo/video feels very similarly to how it feels for photos alone. My style is a mix. One: gently guided/prompted photo and video to help orchestrate moments where your authentic connection shines. Two: truly candid moments that cannot be planned for - the emotion and connection of the day takes center stage.
How is hiring me as your hybrid photographer/videographer different than hiring a separate vendor?
I like to say that hybrid photo and video is the same artist using two mediums. As your story teller, I integrate both forms to give you one cohesive narrative. The benefit of this is threefold.
When hiring two separate vendors you run the risk of not only your photo gallery and video contrasting greatly based on style, but that the experience of the creation of both of those contrasts greatly as well. For example, if you hire a documentary style photographer and an editorial style videographer, both the experience of being in front of the camera and the deliverable you receive at the end of the day will likely be very different. Hybrid photo/video helps to prevent conflicting client experiences with multiple vendors.
The more vendors you hire, the more the day has the potential to feel like a production. For anyone who doesn’t like being in front of the camera - which let’s face it, is most of us - the more cameras you will be in front of and the more people will be directing you.
You save money. With hybrid photo/video you are likely going to spend half as you would on an additional service. This may make video a more accessible option for you if you weren’t considering it at all OR help you save money on something you were going to spend money on anyway. I hate to reduce it to a price point but, hey, I recognize that weddings can be a huge investment and that you want your money to go as far as it can without sacrificing quality or the preservation of your memories.
add a 30-90 seconD video highlight reel to any package including engagements/lifestyle sessions

"Julia was so awesome and easy to work with and my partner and I were really happy with how our wedding photos turned out! She travelled to Stanley Idaho for our wedding and did night before photos out in the sage brush and played the Grateful Dead in the background to help us chill out and relax- she was great at directing us to get the right shots and she knew how to work with the lighting! Not only is Julia a great photographer, but she’s a super friendly and awesome person to work and communicate with! I couldn’t recommend her enough."
